Crunches are not recommended for weight loss, but it’s great for toning the muscles of the abs and stomach. Crunches and sit ups are similar movements. Crunches is when the shoulders lift off the floor and back down. Sit-ups is when the full upper body rises off the floor and back down. Crunches are safer than sit-ups because they don’t compress your spine as much and it does not engage the muscles in your hips which can result in injury.
